Tato přepěťová ochrana lze použít pro jakékoliv PoE i non-PoE jednotky do rychlosti až 1Gbps. Nebezpečné přepětí je svedeno do zemnící soustavy a tím je zabráněno poškození jednotky.
Přestože všechny UBNT jednotky disponují integrovanou ESD ochranou, lze ETH-SP použít jako další vrstvu ochrany, vřele doporučujeme. Šance na poškození vlivem ESD se tím výrazně eliminuje.
Při instalaci doporučujeme použít dvě ochrany ETH-SP, jednu umístit k bezdrátovému zařízení a druhou poblíž vstupu do budovy. Tak je dosaženo maximální ochrany.
